Support that keeps a website from decaying

A website does not decay visibly. It decays quietly. Links stop working, information stops being true, and a form stops sending without anyone noticing.

The usual problem is not that something is broken. It is that nobody owns the site. Small things then sit until they become big ones, and eventually nobody dares touch it at all.

Splenix takes that role. You have one address to send the message to, and answers come from someone who already knows the site.

A support arrangement with Splenix is not a package with a name on it and a block of hours you never use up. It is an agreement that somebody is looking after the site, and that you know who to ask.

Who this is for

  • Businesses with no technical person

Somebody has to update, fix and keep an eye on things. Hiring for that is unreasonably expensive when the need is a few hours a month.

  • Sites built by someone who has moved on

The supplier stopped replying, or the project was delivered and then went quiet. It still works, but nobody knows it.

  • Organizations where volunteers rotate

Knowledge leaves when people move on. You need something written down, and someone who remembers how it all fits together.

  • Sites meant to grow a little at a time

A new section here, a form there. Not big projects, but steady small improvements over time.

What is included

  • Updates and security fixes
  • Fixing things when they stop working
  • New pages, sections and forms as needed
  • Reviews of speed, accessibility and search visibility
  • Keeping an eye on whether the contact form is actually sending
  • Help with domain, email and certificates when something needs renewing
  • One contact, with no phone queue and no ticket number

How it works

  1. A review first

We look at what exists, how it was built and what is urgent. You get a list of what should be done and what can wait.

  2. You choose the shape

Some want a fixed monthly arrangement with a set number of hours. Others just want to send a message when something comes up. Either is fine.

  3. You say the word, we handle it

You describe what is wrong or what you want added. You hear what it involves before anything happens.

  4. You hear what was done

You get a short note on what changed and why. It sounds like a small thing. It is the reason the next person to take over does not start from nothing.

What drives the price

Support is priced either as a fixed monthly arrangement or as hours when needed. Which works out better depends on how often things change, and how urgent it is when something breaks.

A review first makes the price predictable, because we then know what kind of site we are actually dealing with.

You are not tied into anything you cannot leave. Code, domain and content stay yours throughout.

Common questions about support

Can you take over a site you did not build?

Yes, and it is quite common. We start with a review to understand how it was built. Sometimes we conclude that the cheapest route is repairing what exists rather than building new.

What counts as support?

Updates, fixes, content changes, new sections and technical reviews. A larger rebuild counts as its own project, and we say so before starting rather than letting hours run.

Do we need a fixed arrangement?

No. Many people simply send a message when something comes up. A fixed arrangement helps if you change content often or want to know someone is checking the site regularly.

How quickly do we hear back?

Usually within one working day. If it is urgent, say so in the message and it gets prioritised accordingly.

Who owns the website?

You do. Domain, content and code stay yours throughout, and you get the access you need to take the whole thing elsewhere. A support arrangement is an agreement about help, not about ownership.

What happens if something goes down on a Sunday?

We do not promise round the clock cover, because that would be a claim we cannot keep. Serious faults, the site being down or the form having stopped sending, we deal with as soon as we see them. If you need a guaranteed response time at any hour, say so early and we will work out together whether Splenix is the right supplier for that.
